Using locally sourced sage at least makes this light IPA a little more intriguing in theory. Can it deliver in reality? On-tap at the source, on to the beer:

Hopinion is a reddish brown ale that is topped with a half-inch of head. The smell at least is different with the sage, and for the better as well. It smells like sage indeed, and perhaps sage infused soap. I can't find much hoppiness in the aroma, but the sage is done well.

Indeed, I am hit by a strong note of sage. I begin to detect hops about midway into the sip, and combined with the sage, does work as a melody to an extent. Now, I wouldn't want to take a growler of this, as the sage starts to overpower and it begins tasting soapy in the aftertaste. That said, this beer is very light boded, and as a style, should ditch the "session IPA" classification and relabel itself as a spiced beer, as it comes across more as the latter.

Tasted at brewery on 1 Nov 15. Great spice aromas and flavors with the sage and pine nuts. Light touch on the hops. Very drinkable and enjoyable.
