If you were poor or desperate in 18th century York, there was a good chance you would end up living in “The Ward”, one of the settlements most notorious slums. After many years of dereliction and neglect, the area would later become the building grounds for Toronto’s city hall and financial district. This beer has massive aromatics, complex hop flavor and an incredibly smooth bitterness which makes this a Double I.P.A. like no other.

Bottle: Poured a deep hazy amber color ale with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrusy and piney hops with some strong bitter notes is OK. Taste is a mix of some caramelized malt with citrusy hops and light piney flavours with a solid bitter punch. Body is full for style with good carbonation. More bitterness then I usually seek but not bad overall.
