As a style, the IPA was first brewed for the hot summers of India. As you might have guessed, this is a perfect style for our hot summer days, too. Our first IPA reflects our preference for a malt-forward style. We took some influence from the British with their malt-forward IPA, combined it with American Cascade and Citra hops, and The Warrior was born. Dark amber in color compliments the snow-white head. The bouquet is complex: vanilla and coffee from the malt, and pineapple and exotic spices from the hops. The initial sweetness of the malt quickly gives way to the bitterness of Cascade hops but finishes bright and clean thanks to the Citra hops.

Pretty beer - hazy bright orange with long lasting creamy slightly tawny coloured head. I should have stopped here….
Nose hits with a weird spice note - is that cardamom? coriander? - some orange peel and if you can get around the spices maybe a bit of caramel malt.
Taste starts with a bit of caramel malt sweetness but then drowned by the spices - again cardamom, coriander - is there nutmeg??? - what is happening here - did I get a bad bottle - then overwhelmed by an earthy bitterness that just seems to accentuate the spices……
Medium mouthfeel with decent carbonation….just not sure I want the flavour in my mouth so hard to judge.
Like cilantro, this is not for me.

Acquired a single bottle at Super Chedraui on Hwy 307, between Cancun and Tulum. Strong representation of the style. Amber/ruby color, frothy, something of that classic, dirty-sock smell, along with local fruits (mango, pineapple) and decent bitterness. Recommended. 54 IBUs, per the bottle.

Draft at jungala Vedanta
Big foamy head great retention, lacing, semi hazy auburn orange reddish color
Nose brings fresh hops, floral grassy and fair citrus, little spicy too, sweet candy malt and caramel biscuity malt notes
Taste sweet caramel toasted grainy malts, little biscuity, fair hops with earthy spicy, little citrus fruity hops, turning mostly spicy late with medium high bitterness, good balance with fair sweetness, drier finish lingering med high bitterness
Mouth is med bod, med to a bit higher creamy carb
Overall solid ipa, best beer I've had in Mexico so far, nicely balanced enjoyable old school ipa
