Pineapples have a long history as part of the Yucatan region. The Maya recognized pineapples as an important nutrient source and subsequently farmed them for food. Today they grow inland on farms or wild across the tropical coastlines. They remain deeply rooted into the Yucatan cuisine. In fact, the idea of mixing pineapples with our IPA first came to me as I was enjoying al pastor tacos with a Warrior! Shortly thereafter, El Arrecife was bottled. Starting with our Warrior recipe, we hand select only the sweetest smelling locally harvested pineapples. Rather than sweeten the beer, we use just enough pineapples to beautifully highlight the Citra hops.

L: Pours a dark yellowish orange with a small foamy white head and leaves a few fingers of lacing on the glass.
S: Starts off with a very strong toffee/caramel/diacytl, not much beyond the diacytl in this one.
T: Definitely get the diacytl in the taste, maybe some of the pineapple and a piney hop bitterness but a lot of diacytl.
F: Medium body and smooth carbonation.
O: This beer is basically a diacytl bomb and there isn't much beyond that.
