My Dad ordered this beer while out with myself, my Mom, and my wife at a local pub recently. He knows that I like to log reviews of beers so he gave me a few sips (he received a few in return from my beers as well).
This beer pours a dark brown hue with a reddish glow around the edges. It is opaque with no carbonation visible. The head is creamy and off white and dissipates quickly but then levels off at about 1/8" tall. 4/5 The aroma is very sweet with toffee and berries really coming through, but these aromas are backed up by an earthy oakiness. The sweetness overpowers any sharpness present. This is a very interesting aroma for a porter. It smells dark but the berries somewhat brighten things up a bit. 3.75/5 The flavor profile has full of fruit with berries, dates, and dark cherries all coming through at various times. A light bit of toffee provides a sugar splash of sweetness before the oak and a bit of char make their way in. The sweetness is significant here and bitterness is quite low and does not linger after swallowing. 3.25/5 This is a medium bodied porter that is smooth, creamy, and mouthcoating. Carbonation is low. 3.5/5 This is one of the more interesting porters that I have had but it is not necessarily one that I will return to. I applaud the attempt and going a bit off the wall with the style, but the berries and sweetness are just a bit odd here. 3.5/5

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
