Dark amber colour with a decent head of foam. A full nose of caramel, malts and hop, though it gets weaker quite fast. A nice malty profile, with caramel and liquorice being prominent here. Pleasantly sweet. Though the taste is nice, i would have liked more complexity and taste development in this beer. It is too one-sided to justify a 9.0 abv. Mouth feel is very good though: full-bodied and smooth.

Really nice Doppelbock using bottom fermentation yeast and caramel malts. This beer is rather in the German tradition of the style than the Dutch bock beers. I appreciate this a lot. This doesn't show any roasted malt bitterness and it is also not cloyingly sweet. The two biggest turn offs of the style for me. Really well done and hideously drinkable for the high ABV.
