A - The pour looked dead as can be, not lively at all. There was a minute amount of head that did arise, and in the murky depths of the translucent mahogany hue I see small bubbles rising up from the bottom of my etched class. Other than that it looks sweet, thick, and candy like. Upon drinking the beer it did continue to slowly bubble with its minute amount of carbonation and the head stayed slightly ever present, so it didn't look half bad.

S - Upon opening I immediately put my nose on the bottle and was rewarded by this deep dark candy smell, really sweet and sugary, toffee. After getting it in the glass I had an epiphany, real maple syrup. Grade B Dark Amber real maple syrup status. Nothing else but syrup.

T - My exact verbal reaction upon the first sip was "Mmm, Mmm, Weird". I was expecting pure maple syrup, but what I got was maple syrup plus peat smoked malt, and sugar water. I guess the maple syrup is more of a toffee syrup if that's a thing. Either way its really sweet. The one redeeming quality is there are enough bittering hops in the finish to offer a brief reprieve from the onslaught of sweet. The smoked peat flavor is also lingering and extremely satisfying. Although going back for the next sip is drudgery.

M - The mouth feel is going to cost this one, along the maple syrup theme this thing seems to have, the beer falls apart in your mouth like real maple syrup does. I cant even chew it, straight watery. It also is not drinking like 9.5%. I cannot taste the alcohol and it isn't even slightly warming. It is only slow drinking due to its cloying sweetness. For a big beer this is really underwhelming. I would choose to drink this by the pint as it does not belong in a tulip, which might be the point I guess.

O - I'm mixed on this, I cant say it is bad, it is good. And you may enjoy this. It lacks in the drinkability in that its overly sweet, however the finish and aftertaste are great. The smell is also really intense/interesting. This would go great with dessert, maybe something on the caramel spectrum.

Dark copper color with a half inch head. Smell is more subtle than most Wee heavy. Still has that great malt aroma. Taste is grass, coffee, and cocoa. Less sweet and a dry bitterness on the back end. Carbonation is perfect for this beer. Overall I am enjoying this, and will have another.

Pours a black color. 1/2 inch head of a tan color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of strong sweet malt, wood, earthiness, alcohol, dark citrus, hint of spice, hint of smoke, and herbal notes. Fits the style of a Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with a low carbonation level. Tastes of strong sweet malt, hint of wood, hint of smoke, slight earthiness, hint of spice, hint of dark citrus, hint of herbal, roasted malt, and a hint of hop. Overall, good appearance, great aroma, great body, good complexity, and good feel.
