De Zombier. En copa Teku. Jugando a Dragon's Boy y luego Skyland. Bastante alcoholica, con perfil claro a vino pero ni rastro del bourbon o la madera. No desagrada pero no es lo que esperaba y se bebe lenta

A beer that is not balanced, a beer that is not indifferent. A large beer worked well, with a clear intention and achieved. The barrel is very noticeable. I m really liked but I can understand that it is not like a beer can.

Got this one at the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a bottle into a snifter
EBC: 30
EBU: 65
Malts: Pale ale & caramel
Hops: Citra & Cascade
Barley wine aged on Barton bourbon barrels
APPEARANCE: Pours a one finger, looser, foamy, very fizzy off-white head with somewhat lousy retention. Deep maroon red/brown, opaque, with no carbonation evident. Head quickly fizzes down to a half cap. Slight wisp remains but no real lacing on the glass.
SMELL: A good dose of red fruit, some caramel, wood, booze, bourbon, touches of vanilla, and a definite tart quality on the nose. Tartness could easily come from the wood. Not bad, but not quite as decadent as other bourbon BA b-wines in the style.
TASTE: Boozy with bourbon, light vanilla, caramel and wood up front. A alcoholic swallow with a bolder and lingering finish with piles of alcohol, bourbon, some woody flavors, caramel, toffee, and a slight astringent note. No tartness at all.
PALATE: Thinner body and higher levels of carbonation for the style. Lighter on the palate, prickly, goes down okay with a harsher burn at the swallow and finishes a bit sticky. Lots of heat lingers.
OVERALL: Like the cognac version, this one is just alright. It’s also too harsh and boozy to really be world class, and the base barley wine doesn’t really have a chance against the woody, slightly astringent barrel. The feel is also far too thin, light and harsh, unfortunately. It kind of has the character of a ghetto bourbon b-wine as opposed to a patiently aged b-wine in a quality barrel. A decently enjoyable drink but not something worth writing home about.
