Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country...
L- Pours quietly (high ABV%!) with a 3mm very dark brown foam keep, that's gone in 15 seconds, that a sign of high ABV% too, x-ref: surface-tension.
S- That immediate milky lactose note then some rich cocoa.
T- Hmm... somewhat unexpected. Seemingly liquor'ish right on the front and that rather dominates. It's pungent, but beyond the liquor I'm struggling to clearly ID detail. Oh ps I do get some smokey notes...
F- Big, pungent, somewhat rich feeling (inevitable at this elevated ABV) but not yet in any way sweet, or OTT.
O- Clever brewing here. Zero ABV-zing on the palate, zero burn on the way down. It's a big and bold liquorish choco black beer, that somehow is nobley understated.
Review1969/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the lables to see what I missed! ==> Chocolate Imperial Stout.
330ml can BB: Dec-2025 £4.99 Bought from TremblingMadness, York/UK as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.
