Pours with a one finger, light tan head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Deep opaque amber color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is chocolate malt, flavor is sweet. malty, chocolate and dark fruit. $10.75 for a 25.4oz bottle from Lazy Dog Beer Shoppe Londonderry, NH. Bottled June 2016.

750 ml bottle. Bottled on 6/13/16

Opaque brown with ruby red hues. A massive tower of tan colored foam rises high. Slow to recede but does eventually fall to not much more than a thin ring.

Rich chocolaty malt, this malt aroma reminds me very much of the 31 year old Courage Imperial stout I had back in 2008. Cardboard and graham cracker, sweet dates, black licorice, alcohol heat tingle, dark berries and a peppery yeast.

Major sweet malt in the form of blueberry flavored maple syrup, major black current, mild chocolate with a nice heat in the back of the throat. Tastes barrel-aged with hints of vanilla cask and bourbon. The yeast is mostly peppery, semi dry effect and slightly earthy. Complexity is very high, the malt flavor's are numerous. This one would age very well.

A sharp, zesty bite feels hot and peppery but with a big juicy smoothness from the big malt. Finishes a bit earthy-bitter and semi dry.

A beastie brew.

Many thanks to SawDog505 for this bottle.

A - Pours a deep burgundy brown with a frothy caramel creme colored layer of foam and steady carbonation.

S - Light roasted toffee, dark fruit, figs, dates, prunes, and a little bit of creme.

T - Follows the nose pretty closely: prunes, figs, dark fruit, light roasted toffee malt base.

M - Full medium body texture, rich.

O - The alcohol in this beer is completely hidden. Very solid overall and worth a look.

Poured into a Chimay goblet bottled on 6/23/16. Pours a very attractive mahogany with a solid one inch off white head that leaves behind plenty of lace.

Smell is clove, banana, fig, biscuit, toffee, caramel, brown sugar, and some booze.

Taste follows nicely huge clove, banana, bubblegum, and dark fruit, with toffee, vanilla, caramel, biscuit, and alcohol in the large finish.

Mouthfeel is a little bigger than medium, enough life, a tad dry, and excellent drinkability for a sipper.

Overall this is not even close to my favorite style, but this is a very nice Quad that fans of the style should try to find. Excellent Quad!

Pours a murky, ruddy brown with thin beige cap that quickly fades to a ring. Aroma is delightful - rich ripened dark fruits dominate a sweet caramel candi baseline. Lots of sweet malty character in the flavor - like bread covered in melted brown sugar. Hints of raisin and prune in the background, but somehow opposite yet equal in quality to the nose. Very smooth mouthfeel and slightly sweet, mostly clean finish. More expensive than well-known quads, this was a chancy purchase that has far exceeded my hopes. I enjoy their dubbel, but not to this extent. Truly excellent stuff.

From the 750 ml. bottle released in October 2016. Sampled on October 22, 2016

Jet black pour under a modest tan head that fades some and laces as it fades.

The aroma is a bold dark roasted malt and black licorice character. Maybe some anise. Low booze for 10%.

Medium to full body.

I pick up more booze in the flavor but it gets subdued a little by the black licorice and dark malt notes. Quite an extraordinary Quad and worth checking out if you get to New Hampshire. Not available outside New Hampshire.

Picked up a growler of this last week (64oz - $23.00) and am diving into it with daughter Caitlin today....

The beer is an opaque, dense brown, with little light, if any, showing through. Only when held up to back-light does some garnet show at the edges. The head was initially a 1/2" layer of rocky tan foam but it shrank back to a fine, thin layer rapidly. Lacing is present but a bit light. The aroma has some dark fruit and brown sugar notes. The bier is quite smooth, and the body is medium, though I wish it was a bit heavier.

The flavor has lots more brown sugar and notes of rum-soaked brown bread. There's also some raisin and dates, plus a hint of spicy, peppery action in the dry finish. The 10.3% ABV is well-hidden, scarily! Solid!

I've really been into big beers lately (Clown Shoes English barleywine, Belly of the Beast, etc.) and I had to try this one.

L- Deep brown, amber, ruby hues, tan head that took a while to dissipate.Insane lacing! (4.25)

S- Rich, dark fruits (prune, cherry, fig), caramelized sugar. Not a huge amount of booze. Good so far! (4)

T- Brown sugar, banana, peppery finish. Dark fruits are still there, red cherry, not boozy at all! Damn good! (4.75)

F- Silky yet chewy at the same time, goes down easy. Dangerously poundable. (4.5)

O- Easily one of my favorite quads out there! Another great beer from a great company. (4.5)

Bottle from the brewery
Hazy dark brown with a good sized long lasting bubbly tan head. Rich caramelized sugars with bits of prune and dark dried fruits offset with some light peppery clove phenols. Full body with moderate carbonation. This is a really tasty quad!
