I really like this beer. 100% great beer. Tequila barrel aged tripel. I always buy this beer when I see it. I highly recommend it if you haven’t ever had a barrel aged tripel in tequila.

Sampled on tap at the brewery on October 13, 2018. 2018 batch.

The pour was a handsome looking caramel medium amber tone with a modest white head that slowly fades and good clarity.

Whoa! That tequila is pungent on the nose but there is also a notable sweet roasted malt and spicy character mingling with the booze.

The mouthfeel is medium to full.

Yeah, the tequila booze is sprinkled liberally in the taste but so are the sweet caramel malt and Belgian spice characters. Warming.

I picked up a 64oz growler of this today at The Rock ($20)... Am now diving into a 16oz tulip pour out in The 'Zebo.

It's a bright, clear, medium-golden, with a healthy layer of fine white foam covering the liquid. The head ebbed back a bit but leaves nice lacing behind. The tequila is distinct in the aroma, along with the typical notes of pale fruit found in a Tripel. The body is a good medium, and it has a smooth, prickle-free feel.

The flavor train boarded most of the same riders as the aroma. It's a bit bready and crackery to lead off. Then you'll find some pear, green apple and mango. Once more, the tequila action is easy to find, along with some woody characteristics. The tequila/fruity pairing lingers well in the finish, where a hint of yeasty spiciness appears. It is a touch warming, but not overly boozy. A very solid offering! Glad I visited when I did today; a gent right after me scored a 32oz squealer, with the keg kicking right after... Prosit!!
