"Test the pig" canned on 11/15/17 opened on 12/7/17

A clear and fizzy yellow gold color, big carbonation rushing up to create an all white, creamy foam cap. This foam has an everlasting life. Complete coverage throughout duevto the extra lively yeast that creates the gyser like bubbly effect in the middle. It runs from the bottom of the glass straight to the top, creating more foam. Some nice, Sticky lace is leftover, looking like waves before they crash on the shore.

The aroma is very bold, strong and zesty lemmon and citrus hops with herbs and spices, golden wheat type malt, musky, sweet & wild fruit. The hops , malt and funky belgo yeast makes for a most excellent nose.

The mouthfeel is amazingly clean (like natural spring water) with a lively, snappy bite. Light body , zippy and a smooth but light finish. Wow. Clean, dry, light but also with a lush effect...wow, again.

The flavor that pops out first for me is the ultra clean, light and herbal malt. Earthy toned wheat notes pop right out. The hops bring more green, leafy earth notes that finish with a lemmon zest bite. A dry, leafy bite isn't really ever bitter, more spicy I would say. The hop combo with this, extra earthy, sour toned Belgian-ish yeast just maximizes the earthy, herbal, zesty, spicy and slightly sour aspects. These are the high-toned flavor's I love from a Belgian-style pale ale or IPA. Very sessionable at 5.0% abv. But rather complex within this style spectrum. Highly enjoyable session.

This one is so interesting it's hard to put down! The mouthfeel is amazing, hops and yeast make for a serious "X-factor" and the clean malt just holds it all down. This one is lean and MEAN.

From the 16 oz. can with a half printed date that ends in 2017. Sampled on December 5, 2017.

It pours a hazy looking yellow tone with a white fizzy head that bubbles back slowly. Limited lacing.

The aroma has a citrus zing and a pine character but I also pick up a feint barley grain toastiness.

The body is medium.

The taste is a hop delight with a bitter zesty citrus, orange, and pine note. It ends bitter and quickly. A mellow white bread sweetness too.

Can from Greg and Jane's
Slightly hazy light golden color with a decent sized long lasting frothy white head. Spicy earthy light clove and pepper with plenty of citrus and resinous hops to counter. Pretty decent session.

Always love to try new Rockingham stuff, and this one piqued my interest because it's very much not a hyped up style to attempt in this day and age. I feel Rockingham flies a bit under the radar most of the time anyway, and I bet this one is better than most people will give it credit for... cuz it's a session Belgian IPA... who even cares about something like this in 2017? Well... I do!

Pours a gorgeous, fairly clear yellow color with a big, chunky head of bone-white foam that seems to last forever. Over about 10 minutes and multiple small pours to get this guy into my glass, it barely settled down below two fingers. When it did, however, it left behind completely consistent tiers of lace. Combined with the sparkling and effervescent carbonation pushing up from all over the bottom of the glass, and this is easily one of the best lookers I've had in my glass lately. Just awesome!

Nose has a lot of floral, herbal and earthy elements that remind me of older school West Coast hops in tandem with the Belgian yeast. The yeast itself seems to highlight cloves and other spices rather heavily, meaning I'm preparing my palate for some phenolic and funky stuff. That isn't to say there's not a bit of sticky citrus (lemon and tangerine are most prominent) and pungent pine resin in the nose, because there definitely is. It's just that those notes are a bit pushed back behind some really excellent aspects of baking spice, fresh-picked herbs and white pepper.

On the tongue, this is crisp and citrusy up front with strong lemon peel and orange vibes. A little bit of plastic-y yeast but I definitely do notice a quick course-correction into the realm of phenols (some of those notes can get easily conflated with off-flavors, so I forgive the brewery in this case) and spice toward the middle of the palate. Very slight Belgian pilsner-ish malt providing some crackery backup notes. White pepper and more herbal notes in the finish. Spicy and dry with strong, firm bitterness. As expected from the pour, this has very bouncy and bright carbonation, as well. Great balance between hops and yeast here, and with just enough malt in the body to keep this from being yeasty hop-water.

This is very well-constructed, but it's also kind of a style piece (lower ABV than most BIPAs, though, of course) so your enjoyment of it will probably depend on how much experience you have with enjoying Belgian IPAs in the first place. In other words, this won't change your mind about the style, but if you're already a fan, I can see this being a new favorite.

Poured from a growler filled at the brewery.

Pours a cloudy golden straw color with a finger of fluffy white head. The head has great retention, leaving a ton of lacing as it settles into a thick film.

The aroma is yeasty and doughy with a ton of peppery spice. The back end is full of citrus and melon.

The taste follows the nose. Very yeasty and peppery with a ton of grapefruit and orange rind.

The feel is medium bodied with good carbonation. Creamy, yet crisp and refreshing.

Overall, a good Belgian IPA that's flavorful, crisp, and refreshing as hell. Definitely a beer worth your time.
