I picked up this 750ml bottle at Rockingham on Black Friday a few weeks ago... getting around to sampling it now... Was bottled on 01NOV17, and this version checks in at 10.7% ABV.... Here goes....
Poured some into a Smutty snifter... It is slightly cloudy, with a deep, chestnut-mahogany color. Has minimal head, with mostly some light tan bubbles clinging to the rim. Lacing is also on the light side. Has an aroma similar to an English BW, with solid caramel and toffee noted. A bit hard to find any bourbon in the nose, though it's there, and overall the aroma is quite enticing. The body is solidly in the medium range, and the prickle factor is quite low.
Flavor picks up where the aroma left off: English-style caramel and toffee malts abound, with light sweetness caressing the palate. Now here is where the bourbon appears in all its splendor. Granted, I'm not a connoisseur of the distilled brown beverage, but I do enjoy it on occasion. This is one of them. The bourbon blends with the malts so nicely, and lingers long and lovingly in the finish. Solid, solid stuff!! I have now tried all 5 iterations of this: the base, plus versions aged in barrels that held mead, gin, red wine and bourbon. This one will come out as my fave... Great job, Rock & Friends... Prosit!!
