Surprisingly dark and even murky brown brew. Mediocre head retention.
Crisp nose: toasty caramel malt, fairly neutral, earthy hop balance.
Similarly neutral on the palate: fairly light up front, with a bit of an earthy punch and pale malts. Caramel grains and toast really rise up in the middle, and slowly fade over the rest of the sip. Hops are neutral, keeping the sweetness at bay and maintaining a modest bitterness without adding much more flavor than touches of earth, grass, and citrus. Slightly oversweet finish.
Crisp, lively, very drinkable. Surprisingly wet finish.
Not a bad beer, but certainly nothing I would seek out. A good beer to pair with food where you really want the latter to stand out.
