473ml can poured into Sam Adams pint glass.
Pours a dark cola brown with red highlights and a thin foamy tan head that leaves melting honeycomb lace as it recedes.
Smells of nutty dark chocolate, creamy coffee and roasted malt. Mild green hops.
Tastes of dark chocolate with a fine dusting of pulverized nuts, more creamy coffee and dark bread crust malt. More mild green hops.
Feels light and smooth. Medium bodied with mild carbonation. Finishes mildly dry.
Verdict: Recommended. Pretty decent porter, but if you have a hazelnut fetish, find something else to pour on your crotch.

473ml can - sappy Druid/Celt story about fish, hazelnuts, and er, wisdom on the back label - but it's Irish, so I'll probably look it up eventually.
This beer pours a clear, I think, very dark brown colour, with subtle red cola highlights, and two fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat bubbly tan head, which leaves some decent defrosting windshield lace around the glass as it quickly sinks away.
It smells of roasted pale and caramel malt, a gritty hazelnut thing, dark chocolate, cafe-au-lait, and weak earthy, leafy, and weedy hops. The taste is bready caramel malt, a touch of free-agent wet ash, muddled nutty notes, chalky and milky cocoa drink mix, a hint of lost yeast, and more slightly astringent musty, leafy, and herbal hop bitters.
The carbonation is quite light in its plain and perhaps occasionally frivolous frothiness, the body a so-so medium weight, and mostly smooth, just a wee clamminess arising as it warms - hard to tell if it's nutty or hoppy in origin. It finishes off-dry, the chocolate and bland nutty essences holding on for dear life.
Overall, a kind of underwhelming rendition of a flavoured porter - that astringent, almost sour character could just be endemic of an underlying English-style porter. However, it doesn't mesh well with the titular guest ingredient, essentially denuding it of its nutty goodness. Oh, and I'm not feeling any wiser right now, BTB.
