Two hundred years ago, India Pale Ale was the perfect solution to the demand in Colonial India for fine English beer: extra hops and a generously higher alcohol content to ensure the brew survived the trip. Today, a British-style IPA is an unquestioned favourite among those who treasure a full bodied flavourful beer. Dead Reckoning Royal IPA draws its unique personality from the vibrant hues of four carefully-chosen British hops, as well as the earthy wit of two incessantly charming malts. Dead Reckoning Royal IPA will deliver an exquisite calvacade of rich flavours and a fist-full of refreshment, all with a brain-tickling punch.

Ordered a pint of this one time right after a village maiden and it paled (heh) in comparison. Too much of that trademark Big Rock "use the same malt for every beer" thing going on overpowering the hops.

I didn't mind this beer, but it is a bit of a mess. The malt, hops and high level of booziness make this into a powerful tipple. Think of it as a slightly more sophisticated Big Bear.

Not too bad at all. Not a full bodied IPA, but pretty decent overall. The flavours aren't overpowering and yet the hops and barley are present.

Good clean hoppiness, without an overbearing ( uncured marijuana" scent like so many craft IPAs have these days.
Bitterness is there, but restrained. Does noo try to challenge your palate.
Very filling, with a slightly "thick" mouth feel.
I see myself seeking this out for more tastings.
Comes in the typical 650ml bottle
Slightly stronger at 7.5%
Do not drive after consumption, equivalent to drinking 4 of 345ml "canoe beers"

I'm not one to waste beer, but this is terrible stuff. Has a weird chemical/plastic (malty) taste to it. Poured 95% of it down the drain. Gross is an understatement.

Terrible. I don't know how this could be considered an IPA. Terrible. I tried to tell myself I was drinking a Traditional instead if an IPA but even that didn't help. Poured 75% of the bottle down the drain. Did I mention this is a terrible beer?

Terrible IPA ,malt all the way the hops do not stand out at all. I made it through 100ml of the 650ml bottle and tossed the rest. Enough said.

650ml bottle. Since the brewery's social media hacks weren't altogether convincing in their assertions that this wasn't a new brew vis-a-vis the Monkey's Fist Royal IPA of mix-pack lore, I guess this is indeed a going concern.
This beer pours a crystal clear, medium bronzed amber colour, with two skinny fingers of weakly puffy, tightly foamy, and somewhat bubbly ecru head, which leaves a thorough wall of grotto-esque lace around the glass as it evenly bleeds off.
It smells of semi-sweet bready caramel malt, boozy apple mush, citrus vodka, sultana raisins, and further leafy, floral perfumed notes. The taste is more bready, grainy caramel malt, wet wheaty cereal, muddled and still well-soused domestic fruit bowl notes, an uncertain vegetal earthiness, and consistent leafy, floral, and perfume spritz hops.
The bubbles are fairly innocuous in their wan, down-low frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and actually quite smooth, the hops having gone AWOL, and Satan's alcohol pact aiding equally in that particular capacity. It finishes well off-dry, the various caramel-leaning malts contending with little (hah!) more than that serially aggressive booziness.
I suppose I learned my lesson the first time around on Big Rock's attempt to apply American metrics to an English-style IPA (just noticing the style listing here - WTF? It's clearly laid out on the label, people! Sheeesh). This is a mess of malt, alcohol, and underwhelming hops, one that had me temporarily entertaining thoughts of malt liquor (the words duly fit!) at times.
