The third annual iteration of the Alberta Unity Brew project, this time hosted at Big Rock Brewery in Calgary. A pint at Beer Revolution.
This beer appears a glassy, tarnished golden hue, with two fingers of creamy offwhite head, which renders a broken landscape of painted lace around the glass in its wake. It smells of faint sweet fruity grain, and mild earthy hops. The taste is pale malt, a bit of sweet cereal grain, some mild earthy fruitiness, and even shier leafy, weedy hops. The carbonation is moderate, and generally unobtrusive, the body medium-light in weight, and smooth, but for a subtle metallic edge. It finishes off-dry, the malt gaining an agreeable oily nuttiness, amidst the tame, honesty-keeping hops.
While rather unassuming, and well, dull, at first, this kind of grew on me. Overall, a beer designed by committee, is what I take away from this (or maybe it's just the Big Rock aura looming large).

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
