341 ml bottle served at cellar temperature into a pint glass. Bottle is the auburn ale bottle with a special "hop shot" sticker. Thanks to Kevin and Claudia for the Christmas gift.
Appearance - clear auburn coloured beer with a finger of tan head that possesses modest retention. Clear with a limited number of bubbles.
Smell - big grainy aroma, with faint caramel presence. A slight citrusy aroma kicks in on the back end distinguishing from the base beer.
Taste - clean and refreshing with a steady grain bill and a healthy dose of bitterness from the extra hops. Not complicated but more bitterness than the base beer.
Mouthfeel - crisp with prickly carbonation, medium light body and drier than normal finish.
Overall - a nice take on the auburn ale with the add hop shot being a welcome addition. A case where alternating between the base beer and the extra hops would be a win win situation. Worth a shot if you can find it and if you enjoy their auburn ale.
