My final stop in Tinley Park brings me to the apparently historic Vogt House, now Vogt House-ing the Banging Gavel crew. It's a stately old-timey building from the outside, and it appears to carry over in the interior: In fairness, I really only saw the bar area and a bit of the hallway leading from the entrance, so I can't say too much beyond that it looks as though this place was, as one might expect, an actual residence for folks back in the day. Fairly rich folks. The bar area, off the right from the entrance, holds a few tables around the bar, and there is an area for live entertainment as well, near the front windows (and my visit included such merriment). Plenty of plaster, molding, and darker wood accents, you know the drill. The tap list isn't terribly long (just about 8-10 on offer), comprising a berliner, a couple IPA, a hef, a dunkelweizen, a vienna, a kolsch, and a helles (I believe a saison had just recently kicked, as well). All of the brews were solid, if nothing all that noteworthy. The bartenders appeared to be helpful, though I didn't offer much in the way of testing. I also did not sample any of the food, but it looked to be a combination of pub fare (big pretzel, flatbreads, etc) and some higher-end fare (I'm assuming for the dining area). Overall, the place is quite convenient to the Metra station and bus stop right across the street, so I might be stopping in sometime down the road to check on any new or interesting brews on offer.
