This is one of my favorite session beers - they usually get me to have way more than I had planned when they ply me with Sequoia Red down at ol' Brewbakers. The appearance is quite nice, an amber red that is very clear and a bit bubbly. The head is small like most of the beers here, but the mouthfeel is not too thin. It is thin, by all accounts, but quite drinkable and a very pleasant balance of malt and hops. The malt brings a subtle cereal taste reminiscent of some of my favorite bitters in England, while the hops prevent it from getting to sweet and keeps the nose and tongue crisp. I really dig it.

This beer pours a clear, redish brown color, with a tan head. the head fades slowly, leaving a big lace.

This beer smells of sweet caramel malt. I dont smell much in the way of hops. I usually enjoy a red ale with a stronger hop presence. It has a slight grassy hop aroma.

This beer pretty much tastes like it smells. A very mild hop flavor is there. Mostly, I taste the sweet caramel malt.

This beer is medium bodied. It goes down smooth, leaving a toasted malt aftertaste. It leaves a sweet aftertaste as well.

This beer would probably make a good session beer. ABV is not over the top and the flavor is mild.

Overall: This is a decent beer. I dont think it is world class, but definately not sub standard. I have had it many times, and will enjoy it again.

This beer poured a dark red amber color, with a thin white head. The head lasted most of the beer and had a good amount of lacing. The smell of this beer was an almost sweet maltiness with a big dose of floral hops.

The taste of this beer was a very smooth malt flavor that was a little sweet and slightly toasted. Hints of a floral aroma accompanied the hops and the taste of the hops were nice and strong at the end, some where between a pale ale and an IPA. The mouthfeel of this beer was good with the CO2 being perfect and the beer being slightly thicker than expected.

Another really good beer from Brewbakers, their Sequoia Red is very flavorful and with the alcohol at 5.9% you can drink quite a few. Give it a try if you get a chance.
