Barrel of Monks Brewing

 

Barrel of Monks is inspired by Belgian tradition but will surely have something for all beer drinkers, including an immersive experience and knowledgeable staff.

Vibe: They stopped short of making it look like a monastery, but the proper reverence is in place. Comfortable, dark, relaxed, thoughtful accents like art and lighting.. Customers were a broad group, beer geeks, retirees, local happy hour crowd. Diverse and buzzing.

Quality: These beers don't quite reach the level of quality achieved by monks over hundreds of years. Still, the inspiration they draw from those monks is a guiding light and the results make for some of the best beer I've consumed in the state of Florida (caveat: i did not drink the IPA)

Service: Kind and knowledgeable server who allowed for sampling, made good conversation, and had top-tier suggestions appropriate for me based on our talk. Additionally, the assistant brewer came out and sat at the bar and was actually happy to talk about work after what seemed like a long day. Kudos to this fantastically committed crew.

Selection: If you're in Boca Raton looking for trappist-style beers, you really couldn't do any better. If you come looking for more androgynous brewpub beer, this stuff is gonna rock your socks, but there are a couple things (IPA, blonde, fruited, octoberfest, etc.) that would be familiar and comforting as well. A five for what it is, but a 4 for those reading out in BA land. Worth noting they also sold bottled vintages of most beers going back 5 or more years. Really cool!!

Overall: If the idea of this place sounds like a dream to you, take it from me IT IS. If you're a haze head or a tmavy tool, you can skip this one. More seats for me!

Pro tip: This place has an AMAZING, almost gourmet-level food cart permanently stationed. Plan to eat here if you're on the fence!!!

 

If I lived near here, this would be my go to place! The guys running it were great, with quick service. Tuesdays is 2 for 1 beers and the food truck has great burgers and fries among other things. The vibe is pretty chill and the patrons all seemed to enjoy themselves. The crew seemed to know a lot of the people who came in, so it seems there are a lot of regulars. They have a great selection of Belgian style brews and although I didn't try it, I was told that the IPA is great. It's a fairly small space, but seamed to have enough room so it didn't feel crowded. We had a great experience and will be back whenever we're in the area.

 

 

 

 

I've traveled through Belgium for the sole purpose of drinking beer. This place is as close as you are going to get on this side of the Atlantic.

 

A neat independent brewery that only brews Belgium style ales and sours. A nice tasting room with a good selection of games to spend an afternoon with friends. The staff where very friendly and knowledgeable. Some of the special beers are only for on-site consumption. Overall a good place and with their master brewer they have on staff this place will definitely put out some delicious brew.

 

I love the excellent and very wide selection of Belgian Ales, there is something for everyone!

 

Great little Belgian style brewery. Everything i tried was well executed and very tasty. They have a food truck that sets up in the parking lot. I bought a nice snifter glass as a souvenir.
