This poured out as a nice dark black color with a thin brown head on top. The smell of this has a bit more of a coffee forward aroma than the regular Sunday Morning. The taste really showcases the espresso with the barrel flavors coming in later on. The feel of the beer is smooth. Overall it's a damn fine beer.

On tap at the SMS release on 2/12/17. They call it the "Espresso" SMS variant. May or may not be the same recipe (or even batch?) as last year's.
Pours black -- noticeably darker than the regular or "Sex" SMS versions -- with a mocha head that leaves a thin crown.
Nice dark coffee aroma without being overbearing.
Actually has a less coffee-forward taste than this years fresh SMS. Better integrated with the chocolate and slight barrel notes. Less acerbic, with a fuller, more robust coffee presence. Nice espresso bitterness in the aftertaste, too.
Creamy mouthfeel with lower carbonation than the regular and the sex.
Quite tasty. The aftertaste is amazing. Wish they would bottle this one.

On-tap at Weyerbacher Brewing in Easton, PA.
Wake Up Call is Sunday Morning Stout with espresso.
Jet black pour with a very small and very dark brown head. Prominent coffee and bourbon aroma without much of the chocolate or vanilla that you find from the base version. The coffee really takes over here and compliments the booze well but takes away some of the complexity. Full bodied, rich, and hearty. Great tasting but I prefer the original to this one.

Had on tap at the SMS release at Weyerbacher on 2/14/2016. The Wake Up Call is blended with Fieldstone Espresso. Strong espresso flavor on a very cold day, about 2 degrees F outside. Would have liked to let it warm more as the bottled SMS improves as it approaches room temps in my opinion. Caramel and vanilla undertones were more subdeued than the regular SMS but become more pronounced in the aftertaste. Poured without a head but the beer was black. Noticeable alcohol burn. Nose is strong espresso.
