Pours a dark brown color with a big beige head. The nose has a smokey sweet essence. The same smokey sweetness is present in the flavor. The downside is that the roast profile is not bold enough to match the smoke.

Enjoyed on tap - beautiful khaki foam and lacing. I can smell the smokey malts and a touch of syrup. Wonderful smoke flavor - just right not overkill - this allows some cola sweet notes to shine through in the finish . If you can find it on tap it's definitely worth a taste.

12 oz bottle purchased from the Weyerbacher brewery.
Deep brown/black color with a creamy tan head. Good retention with some sparse lacing on the glass. Roasted malt and chocolate in the aroma. A faint smokiness is noticeable, but does not jump out at you. Honestly, if I wasn't looking for it because I knew it was brewed with smoked malt I might have missed it. More roasted malt in the flavor and a bit more smoke than the aroma, albeit still slight. Finishes with a moderate bitterness that provides good balance. Medium bodied and smooth, hiding its strength very well. I'd think it could be improved by a more powerful smoky character, but it's an enjoyable beer nonetheless.
