Pint pour on draught at the brewery. It pours nearly black with cola hues at the bottom of the glass. Unfortunately, the head and lacing are minimal. The nose is rather subdued but includes citrus, tobacco smoke, and pine notes. Its taste is very good for the style: burnt coffee and bakers chocolate up front. The malt bill is fairly sweet. It's well-balanced by pine, woodsy soil, spice, and a nice, clean, hop bitterness throughout. The Citra, Simcoe, and Cascade hops are handled well. The mouth feel is lite and crisp with pleasant carbonation and th 7.2% ABV gives it good substance. Overall, this is a very nicely-crafted Black IPA with a good balance of flavors. The whole exceeds the sum of its parts and I would drink it any time. If Weyerbacher packaged, it, then I would purchase.
