A: pours orange, amber body with thick, silky white head with nice retention and lacing
S: floral smell full of sweet grapefruit citrus goodness
T: pretty hoppy tasting beer; grapefruit, citrus taste with a subtle toffee aftertaste and some earthiness
M: a little on the thin side, but still pretty good
D: nice mouthfeel and taste combo; nice drinking beer; solid overall

copper color with a good amount of clarity to it. Nice streams of carbonation could be seen coming up towards the top and a good sixed two inch head of white foam came over the top right away. Slight settling still left behind copious amounts of sticky white lace, with a bare top.

The aroma was nice and hopped, grassy with some decent touches of light citrus and pine mixed in. A bisuit like bready middle to it that really came out once it warmed up. The flavor was more of the same, crisp and clean, with a quick hitting citric hop bite in the front that mellowed out with some light grain, and bready malts to balance nicley, all the while staying very light and towards the hoppier side of the style. Crisp and clean with a light feel

OK, so they were going for a more refreshing pale ale, I get that. The Sorachi Ace hops, certainly impart an interest herbal fruit character, and the malts are nice and dry. The aroma, however, is absent, it practically smells like sparkling mineral water. The hops are certainly still present in the flavor and feel, but most pale lagers smell stronger than this.

A: murky and amber gold colored. Single finger head with good retention.

S: dishwater and grassy aroma.

T: very grassy but not bitter. More on the sweet side actually. Some piney and bitter hop notes in the finish.

M: medium body and moderate carbonation.

Overall: Not a big fan of the earthy and grassy flavors dominating to the extent they do.

I like this beer a lot and am rating the last of the 6 pack purchased at the brewery in July, so am surprised by other negative reviews. This is a lot of APA flavour for 5.5% ABV and definitely something I'd purchase again.

Hazy golden amber with a decent head and pleasant level of carbonation. Aroma is not as hoppy now as it was two months ago, but still delightfully citrus with hints of pine and tropical fruits - pineapple? Those tropical hints are more prevalent in the taste, which has the sweetness of caramelized malts combined nicely with the "west coast" hop citrus & mango smorgasbord.

I wish I'd bought more and would consider this an ideal "session ale".

With a creamy robust texture, and flavor to match, this rich Pale Ale hovers over the high end of what's expected from most beers of the type. But, the beer retains high drinkability with caramel richness and citrusy hop character to match.

The Pale Ale starts with a medium yet bright copper color with a hue of orange and amber in the right light. Mild haze results from dry hopping. Highly foamy with a dense creame that coats the surface of the beer and leaves a trail of lace behind as the beer falls.

The dense aromatics weave together the carmel malt scent with citrusy and spicy hops for a combination of aromas the remind me of ginger snaps, butterscotch, biscotti, and graham crackers. Still, orange zest, grapefruit, and a woody hop nose gains traction as the beer warms.

Malty rich flavors contribute a rich bready, biscuity, and caramel flavor of bread crust, medium kilned barley, and medium sweetness. Balanced by initial citrusy notes of ornage zest and grapefruit that then morph into a grassy and woody flavor before turning resiny bitter late. Other spicy balance comes from a ginger-like and cinnamon note in the alcohol profile at finish.

Creamy early textures accent malt richness because of the ample carbonation of the beer. The mid palate releases the carbonation and allows for a drying, warming, and sharply bitter finish with the slight linger of malt for a mostly clean and refrshing finish.

A lasting caramel and resiny hop bitterness flavor extends into the next sip with moderate intensity. Highly drinkable, but fortified enough to be satisfying with an occational drink. This big-bodied IPA shows a lot of variety in hop character and with the malty support to balance. A non-failing choice for any occation.

From 08/17/11 notes. 12 oz. bottle shared by yourefragile; thanks!

a - Pours a hazy straw yellow color with an inch of white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of corn, vegetables, light citrus hops, and light grain. Not very good at all.

t - Tastes of corn, vegetables, cardboard, grain, and bready malts. Again, not good and a step down from the nose.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation.

o - Overall not a good beer. Not really sure if this is an APA, but either way would not want to have it again.

Bottle shared by yourefragile. Thanks Michael.

The beer is a mildly hazy, light yellow color with a small head that leaves sparse lacing on the glass. The aroma is herbal and buttery, with floral and malt notes. The flavor is indistinguishable as an APA. Boiled vegetables, particularly corn. The finish is odd and unpleasant. The bottle was purchased from the brewery and consumed soon after. Avoid.
