Sunday Morning Stout is an American Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels. The result? A beautiful ebony pour with a large, creamy, off-white head that lasts and lasts. The aromas of roasted coffee and bourbon awaken your senses while their flavors blend with hints of chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla and caramel.

Poured into a tulip a dark brown color, with some very nice carbonation, with a pretty nice small tan head, which leaves a really nice oil slick, and some sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, with some chocolate/toffee notes, nice touch of coffee, vanilla. The taste is pretty nice, malty, chocolate/toffee, very nice touch of coffee, vanilla. Full Body, ABV hidden pretty well, nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a very tasty brew. Glad to have a chance to try it. Thanks Arthur!

Pours a dark brown, tan head, it's chocolatey, oatmealy, boozey, some dried fruits. Quite complex, quite delicious. I would not touch this on a Sunday Morning though.

Four-year-old bottle (no date but that was the most recent time I was in PA), poured into a snifter (of course--the only glassware suitable for a BBA). Nursed for quite some time (as this is obviously not a session beer), during which time it went from fridge door temp to room temp and continued to evolve. Everything you'd expect and more from the style. Typically limited head retention and lacing, but those are of tertiary importance. Intense and complex nose and flavors of all of the usual suspects, but well-balanced and not cloying, and the ridiculously high ABV isn't as evident (in the taste, anyway) as you might expect. Right up there with the KBSs and Dragon's Milks as a cellerable, occasional treat (but don't make plans to do much afterwards--woof)!. If only such beers came in 6-7-oz bottles (or lower ABV)...

A real sturdy stout. Strong notes of coffee albeit somewhat matured and muted. Dark and roasted with strong dark coffee and high abv.

It pours very dark brown with a brown head. It has a full body. There are strong alcohol notes with roast and bourbon. It has dark fruits with bit of chocolate.

The pour is pitch black with a tan head of foam. The body is medium to heavy & on the taste I'm getting espresso coffee, bourbon barrel, dark chocolate, raisins, roasted malt, vanilla, molasses, & tobacco char. Moreover, the 11.8% abv is well hidden. Overall, this was a really good example of this style of beer. Cheers! A-

Pours dark like used motor oil with a caramel colored head.
Bourbon, vanilla, coffee, dark wine fruit covered in chocolate, and whiskey oak in the nose.
Taste follows nose with delicious bourbon cream coffee notes.

14 months since bottling, this one is primed. Weyerbacher can offer some hot beers, so a little over a year on this is welcome.
Slight carbo pour with minimal head. Strong bourbon and sweet stout scents to the olfactory nerve. This shines where it needs to. The balance of bourbon, coffee, and base beer flavors is sublime. Booze is just right, it's there but just so. The body is properly viscous with periods of chewy density. Is this the best BA Stout on Earth? Probably not, but it does everything it's supposed to very well and is cheaper than its contemporaries.

Very tasty beer. I am not typically a fan of anything aged in bourbon or whiskey barrels but this beer is well balanced, smooth, and very drinkable.

Poured room temp into a 16oz pint glass. Appearance is opaque dark brown nearly black. One finger tan receded fairly quickly leaving a sudsy ring around the top.
Aroma is roasty malt, coffee, picking up nice bourbon notes, vanilla, molasses, caramel, maybe even a hint of maple.
Taste follows the nose with coffee, booze/bourbon, oak, molasses, dark chocolate, toffee, tobacco.
Mouthfeel is full body, chewy, decent carbonation. Notable warming going down the hatch from the high alcohol content. I would not say it is even well-hidden, this is a big boozy beer.
Overall this is very well balanced between sweet and warm bourbon / alcohol notes. A big stout with deep flavor profiles. Cold weather sipping beer for sure. Have had this before and will certainly have this one again.

Had one of these bottles that sat in the cellar (like a real cellar) for a few years and randomly broke it out on a, wait for it. . . Sunday morning.
Stout pours black, brown head, 1/5". For some reason I was getting a little pepper heat perception out of this one, but apparently no, I'm just high or defective or something. Usual roasted malt, bourbon barrel. coffee and vanilla notes otherwise. I guess that makes you an outlaw too.
The taste is pretty nice, sometimes stouts get ugly bitter with age, this one got nice and smooth. Chocolatey and bourbon, not reinventing the wheel or anything but hitting the notches solidly like a divorcee with questionable coping skills. Very light coffee note. Plenty drinkable stuff despite an appearance and abv that looks daunting. The viscosity is more akin to Central Waters than Goose Island (thicccc) which is a positive for me. Light caramel note contributes on the back end.
Has anyone else noticed how much Styx influences The Flaming Lips?

12oz bottle purchased off the shelf as a 4-pack for $21.15 plus tax. PACKAGED 111623, so this is almost four months old. Drinking this at room temperature.
Look: It's very dark but not pitch black. There is some brownish color there within the black. The head is a nice cafe au lait color, very thin layer.
Smell: Rich coffee and roasty, toasty notes galore. Nice bourbon notes, not too strong or too much char. I also get dark cocoa and vanilla notes. It has sweet aromas and it also smells a bit boozy.
Taste: It's very tasty. Up front, notes of chocolate and roasted malts and coffee and it's a bit sweet. It finishes drier, with lots of char and wood on the finish with a lingering bourbon flavor. I'm not sure it's because it's so fresh or because they used wet bourbon barrels. A bit of cherry cordial flavor also lingers. Secondary notes of licorice and chicory, also vanilla. Warming sensation in the chest is building.
Feel: The mouthfeel is nice. Nice carbonation, small bubbles. It doesn't taste thin but it's not thick either. I think that the high ABV makes it seem thinner than it actually is.
Overall: This reminds me a bit of Brooklyn Black Chocolate stout, but due to the bourbon barrel aging it's certainly sweeter. I wonder how the base beer would compare with Brooklyn BCS. I am curious to see if this beer would improve with some age. On the one hand, the coffee notes will fade but on the other hand this beer has such potent bourbon flavors I think that this beer will develop and improve over time as the flavors mellow out and become more integrated with the base beer. The finish is very woody, so I think that this would also help to have some time to mellow out.

Beautiful pour. Deep dark brown color with excellent head.
Not enough on the nose to notice.
Very delicious. Smooth, easy to drink. Definite notes of coffee.
Lovely beer. Best I have had from Weyerbacher.
Wish I could find this locally.

The label says 11.8% abv as opposed to the 12.7 shown here. Did I get a bogus bottle or do they switch this one up from year to year. Someone get on that, stat.
