$ 9.99/25.4 oz bottle at Vintage Estates, Boardman, OH
Undated bottle at 40 degrees into SA lager glass
Aroma of pine and citrus
Head large (6 cm), off white, frothy, slowly diminishing to 2 mm ring and frothy island
Lacing good – partial rings and stalactites of small to medium bubbles
Body medium orange, cloudy
Flavor of citrus, some malt, ends with grapefruit bitterness with a long hang time; no alcohol, no diacetyl
Palate medium, watery, lively carbonation

Appearance 3.75, Aroma 4, Flavor 3.75, Palate 4.25, Overall 3.9375
The malt coming through makes me think this beer is past its prime but since Weyerbacher (along with many other brewers) doesn’t bother to date their bottles, this beer is reviewed as if bottled today.

I’ve never passed up a new Weyerbacher beer when one shows up, & I don’t plan to start now. 750ML corked & caged IPA…not sure why you’d do that, but hey. Split with my wife for a rare Sunday beer.

The pour has the head of an infected beer, virtually impossible to pour without causing a white mushroom cloud of foam. Unfiltered orange. Nose is great, a wild-ride mix of citrus & apricot & raw sugar. Nice mix.

Viridis Lupulus cuts through the haze of non-west coast IPAs with a +2 Short Sword of…sorry. Lovely fruitiness greets the throat with the aforementioned apricots, citrus, shot of pine boughs, plus other, less identifiable southern hemisphere fruitage. Bitterness arrives hard on the heels of the fruit basket, along with herbal notes & spearmint (?). Faintly medicinal, aspirin dust on the end cuts the pleasure matrix a bit. Half a bomber is nice; I could do a touch more.

So close. This is very good, but the bitterness tilts dangerously close to chewing on Advil; it might rise to great if it could lean back from that line a bit.

This beer is extremely carbonated. Massive head that seems to continue to grow. Pours fully clouded amber.

This beer is completely muddled and uninteresting, to be frank. Hops are giving me no specific character. It's an okay drinker but not interesting at all. No clarity of flavor. And the head still hasn't died down 20+ minutes later.

In addition: I left about a third of the bottle in the fridge, uncorked or capped, for 24 hours. The remaining beer was STILL excessively carbonated.
