Appearance: Looks like a Hefeweizen- light yellow and cloudy. It's nice to see that they keep the yeast in there, since cloudy beer tends to frighten some non-craft drinkers, which I would say are probably the majority of visitors to this brew pub. The sampler glass was too small to maintain a head, but when swirled, there was a little something to be seen. Did not appear to stick around for a long time like some German Hefeweizens.

Smell: Smells like banana. Smells fresh and crisp. Invites a taste.

Taste: Tastes banana-y. Definitely some of the 'clove' spiciness in there. Does not taste as banana-y as Weihenstephaner, but not as clove-y as SN Kellerweis can sometimes taste. A decent Hefe, but nothing to write home about. Does not compare to German Hefeweizens, even ones considered run-of-the-mill, like Erdinger.

Mouthfeel: This one seems way to thin for a proper Hefe. The yeast is still in there, since it's cloudy, so it can't be because it's masquerading as a Kristallweizen, but it still tastes too watery compared to something like Weihenstephaner.

Overall: A decent beer. Not sure I would order a full pint of this, considering I have drank tons of German Hefe's and am more used to the proper European take on the style than the Americanized version. However, I would still say it's worth trying.

T: sweet banana, good wheat middle, slight spicy clove finish

M: med/light body, solid carbonation, semi-dry/crisp mouth

O: Very nice beer. Funny, must have been the big
hit last because Mickey Finn's was packed and the vast
majority of men + women were drinking this delicious brew.
Well done, Mickey Finn's. I will be ordering this one again.

This beer I've had before and it gives a chubby to many of the individuals that I usually accompany to Mickey Finn's. I'm just now getting around to reviewing it for I've found myself more indifferent to this beer then they.

It pours the nice hazy rusted golden yellow color that I expected. The aroma on it has that nice banana and clove flavor that gives the regular beer enthusiast joy. The aroma I feel leans more strongly to the clove. The flavor has that right amount of sweetness to it that doesn't go overboard but accents the yeast phenols quite well. The mouthfeel is silky-smooth and creamy. It's the best part of the whole enjoyment. This is a very good beer, not my favorite ever from Finn's but I find it to be damn good.

Who doesn't love fun with faux-German? After stealing a sip o' this from taiyed's glass (they way I see it, never get up from the table with beer left in your glass if you don't want it stolen...tee hee...), I had to order my own. It pours a hazy orange straw topped by a finger of white foam. The nose comprises orange zest and peel, coriander, cardamom, lemon zest, and wheat. The taste is the same, though oriented more toward the orange end of the citrus spectrum, relegating the lemon to the background. The body is light, with a moderate carbonation and a crisp-ish finish. Overall, a more-than-solid hefe, probably my favorite of MF's year-round brews.

On tap in a 23 oz. Weiss Beer Glass.

Appearance: A bright, hazy golden color with a straw tint in the edge of the glass. A 2 cm white head shows up with the beer, but fades rapidly. Ultimately, there is nothing left, and no lacing either. This could partially because of the acid from the lemon that it was served with and subsequently removed.

Smell: Crystal, bready malt. Bananas and cloves provide the more interesting part of the aroma. Very sweet.

Taste: Starts sweet with banana and wheat malt. Some cloves and a very slight citrus hop presence at the end.

Mouthfeel: Medium carbonation. Soft and crisp bite furthers the goal of making it feel light and summery. Sticky sweet residue with a touch of oil.

Drinkability: A good summer refresher.

Appears a hazy, light gold with a small white cap that quickly fades out into a gentle film and collar. Tiny speckles of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of tart wheat, citrus, cloves, herbs, spices, with some fresh doughy bread.
Taste is of the aromas with tart wheat, spice, and vanilla really stand out.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, yeasty, spicy, and well balanced. Most American brewed hefe's are over the top with banana esters due to the fermentation temps. This one seems more smooth and rounded with a lower fermentation temperature that keep the overripe bananas in check.
