One of the big winners at this year's FoBAB, Chicago IL. Described as a "Double IPA aged in an Ancient Age barrel", the beer is very well balanced, not easy to do considering the large amount of hopping contributed to the brew. A testiment to the enormous malt character that was needed to match. The barrel aging certainly helped to round off the edges and mellow the hop bittering a bit, but the hop flavor was all over the place. Floral, piney, grassy, boquet, resin-ey, and bitter nonetheless. Finishes quite bitter, sweet and dry all at once. Alcoholic throughout added mild heat, perhaps a bit fusal, but a delight anyhow.
