Tasted in a pint glass from draft at Mickey Finn's Brewery on April 7, 2018. Named after both the patron saint of Ireland, and the patron saint of Mickey Finn's, this beer is brewed only once a year. Decent balance between the hops and malt. It gets it's reddish color from a small amount of roasted barley. Feel is flat.

Serving: On tap, 4oz sampler
Served: 7 April 2015
Appearance: Looks much the same as their regular amber ale- a copper color with a light off-white head. Little to no lacing.
Smell: Sweet malts with notes of light syrup, fresh baked bread with brown sugar or molasses added, and a faint sweet nuttiness.
Taste: Soft, subdued flavors that are largely the same as the nose, with a touch of orange rind and a pinch of herbal hoppiness (literally, just a pinch).
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body and medium carbonation. Good for the style.
Overall: An approachable beer to anyone, and an Irish Red that does it's job but is nothing incredible. Drinkable for sure, but not something I'd order due to better menu options.

Served in a Mickey Finn's shaker pint glass at the brewpub.
What better beer to kick off St. Paddy's day this year? It pours a hazy sienna-cored amber topped by a finger of cream foam. The nose comprises light orange zest, light caramel, and a potential hint of rye bread. The taste holds notes of orange zest, grapefruit, and a rather light backbone of caramel. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fairly dry finish. Overall, a nice li'l brew, though not something I can realistically rave about (even on its namesake holiday).

I suppose they are bringing this back for St. Patrick's Day. I don't remember the last time I had it. It pours a hazy orange color with a creamy white foam on the surface. The aroma is a regular malt nose to it with a touch of clove and coriander in the back. The flavor is strong on the clove and orange zest but then finishes similar to the dry irish red taste that I would normally anticipate. This was a weird hybrid of and Irish Red and a Wit bier. Honestly I don't know if I even like that combination now. It's a touch astringent, but it's still a drinkable beer. Not my favorite though.

Dark red color with a toasty head. Toasty malt smell with fruity flowery hop smell.
Sweet and toast flavor with a nice punch of fruity hops. More hops than most Irish Reds but still well-balanced. Drying finish.
Medium-bodied with solid carbonation.
Excellent beer here. A great example of the style.
Tasted on-tap at the brewery on 4/6/08.
