Had it on tap at Southside Grille in South Bound Brook, NJ.

Appearance - light golden and hazy, tight very white head.

Smell - complex, as I would expect a dubbel to be.

Taste - picking up fruity notes...some clove maybe? definitely tart though.

Mouthfeel - creamy for this type of beer, very little carbonation.

Overall - not bad, and I would have another, but I've had better beers today, and will target those.

Served in a snifter at the brewpub.

My final beer of a great beer trip day. Good times. It pours a dark ruby-sienna topped by over a finger of cream foam. The nose comprises dark wheat, caramel, light maple syrup, banana, and light brown sugar. The taste holds notes of banana, clove, toffee, and light dark wheat. Things are blander, less spicy and bold than the aroma led me to believe it would be. The body is a light-leaning medium, with a light moderate carbonation, a lightly watery feel, and a kinda dry finish. Overall, a nice dubbel, but one that sorta falls a little flat for me. Just not enough going on and a little too thin and whatnot.

(Served in a snifter)

A- This beer pours a dense dark brown body with a thin wispy light tan head that last as a thin ring. There is a gentle carbonation of big bubbles gliding upward from the base of the glass.

S- The slightly sweet caramel malt flavor has some chocolate malt notes and a dark nougat nose to follow. There is a light fusel smell in the finish that comes through as the beer warms.

T- The sweet malt flavor as a slight cola note to the toffee notes and a light roasted hint in the background. There is a tartness to the finish that was a bit of a surprise. The malt flavors also have some slightly sweet/spicy yeast flavor with a hint of circus peanuts coming through as the beer warms.

M- This beer has a medium-light mouthfeel with no alcohol heat and a big fizz in an otherwise thin texture on the tongue.

D- The big fizz really cleans up the finish of this beer taking away much of the body of this beer making it a bit thin. The flavors and aroma are a bit soft and could use a bit more flavor but it does have some depth to it.
