I do enjoy listening to 95 WIIL Rock, so hopefully I'll enjoy the namesake beer as well. It pours a cloudy sunset amber topped by a bit less than a finger of dirty white foam. The nose comprises caramel, buttercream, and a very light twist of orange zest. The taste holds notes of toffee, orange peel, light caramel, and brown sugar. A small bit of soil creeps its way in at the very end, but doesn't malinger. The body is on the lighter side of medium, with a very light moderate carbonation and a dry-ish finish. Overall, not a bad beer, necessarily, but in terms of doppelbocks, this was a decided let-down.

I have come to enjoy this super malty style above many other styles in the pantheon of beers, so there was much hope for the goodness that was about to befall me. This beer is served a semi clear orange color with little to no head to speak of. The aromatics are clearly malty as one would expect with a background note of caramel and some dirty dishwater. The taste has a toffee like bite to it, with the caramel that's usually in a doppelbock it's not surprising. The finish on the flavor is a dry woodsy pine like taste. It reminds of hops that were not properly cleaned and slightly past their prime. This was a decent beer, easy to drink, the alcohol wasn't really detectable. Overall, it wasn't really what I hoped it would be. It was severely disspointing for the style.
