Presented in a pint glass for $2.75!!! at Mahaffeys in Baltimore. The pull only had the word Heavyweight on it. Since one doesnt normally see such good fares in Baltimore, I passed on the Celebration on tap and went for the Heavyweight, without knowing the name or type of beer.
It poured a deep dark brown without much light shining through. Middle sized bubbles line the tan head. Dissipated quickly to a thin, sticky ring.
Had a very full aroma. Pieces of caramel, esters, fruity hops, and spices were abounding.
The bizarro is quite a mouthful in the flavor category. Given the appearance and bouquet, I had assumed (incorrectly) that this was a saison. The original flavors were tangy sourness, possibly from the yeast and hop mix. It was definitely spicy in nature, but in a good way. A full malt undertone then takes over, smoothing it all out. Didnt quite taste the alcohol, but its effects were evident.
By far, an all around heavyweight in my opinion that was quite tasty and worth a few. The ABV was masked and I didnt know the type at the time, but it made my mouth warm and tingly. It was medium bodied and had a good amount of carbonation swirling around. The malts clung to the inside of my mouth. Due to the high alcohol content, I wouldnt quite call it a session beer, but definitely drinkable.

The beer is a deep umber brown leaning slightly towards gold, with red highlights. Good clarity. A thin ring of bone colored head tops the beer, keeping through the glass, yet never building much, even with some agitation.
The aroma is a rich caramel maltiness mixed with very estery fruitiness. Some thinner-like astringency, with heaps of fig, raisin and cherry. Candi sugar sweetness, mild spiciness from the yeast, with a slight citric tang and a loud alcohol presence. A very boisterous aroma, large and in charge.
The flavor starts out with surprisingly mellow caramel malt. Slightly toasty, with a spicy yeast character popping through almost immediately. The flavor is slightly boozey all the way through, although the malt softens it up considerably. An interesting nuttiness enters into the middle, mixing with estery dark fruit and easing itself through a spicy, peppery finish. Somewhat tangy, with a distinct, if fleeting, black pepper flavor. Light alcohol in the finish, sticking to the back of the tongue and mixing with a sweet candi sugar aftertaste. Medium bodied, with moderate, bouyant carbonation and a fairly smooth mouthfeel.
Another mad concoction from Heavyweight. This was one of my favorites from the festival, and I'd really like to try it again with less distractions around. I actually took a couple sips and decided to find a relatively quiet area where I could attempt to concentrate and take some decent notes. An assertive, attractive brew.

Dark brown with an off-white head. There are the expected flavors of caramel malts, molasses, and dark fruits in pretty good balance. I was put off by some of the spicing and fermentation flavors, though. The phenolics were a little funky with some band-aid and higher alcohols. Gave me a little headache for a while. The alcohol flavor was actually very-well balanced and added a lot to the brew. The body had that Heavyweight house character creaminess to it but was rather thin and dry. Not in a bad way, however.
Overall I would have really enjoyed the beer if the spicing and fermentation flavors were more complementary.

Dark amber beer, almost a dark caramel color, topped by a thin tan head. The aroma was lightly sweet, decent fruity notes and a very noticeable alcohol component. The taste was very dubble-ish, with decent malt notes, good plum character, and a decent bitterness. But there was also a very strong phenolic flavor in the finish. combined with what I percieved as a strong higher alcohol bitterness. Mouthfeel was relatively light, as expected, but it wasn't thin by any means. Drinkability was OK for such a high gravity brew. One Time, One Place is enough for this offering.

Served on cask at Sharp Edge Creekhouse. The color was dark brown, with a good bit of white head, especially nice for this high an ABV. The smell was a nice, sweet malt. The taste was quite flowery, nice for a dubbel-style, and the alcohol was definiltely present. Mouthfeel was smooth. Drinkability-wise, with a deceptiveness like this, could definitely have a few.
Another fine OneTimeOnePlace offering from Tom Baker and Heavyweight. It's such a tease to make these beers so good, and then yank them away from us...not fair *pout*, but I'm glad I got a chance to give it a try.

Appearance: Mahogany brown chestnut tone with a tan fluffy head that doesn't last very long, I'm assuming this is due to the high abv well lacing lies in even patches very nice overall appearance. Aroma: Full ripened grape notes, really has a vinous alcohol rush about it mildly spiced very complex I'm not able to pick everything that's going on here out. Taste: Even more complex wine like completely rushes the palate with sweet fruit tones drenched in alcohol, very rich tones this is one huge beer it's a Heavyweight. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied the cask lightens the load a little bit here I would assume, semi fluffy big massive syrupy mouthfeel still. Drinkability: Wow so rich a bit overwhelming but I guarantee your session with a glass of this will last for up to at least 45 minutes, definitely a one at a time brew could be dangerous.

Deep hazy chestnut color with a nice tan head. Smells vinous and winey, significant alcohol is noticable. Candied plum and a big dosage of malt is also prevalent in the aroma. Heavyweight's labeled this beer a hybrid dubbel/quad. It has an estery malt flavor interplayed with it's alcohol punch with some dark fruit notes such as dates, plums and black currant. Finishes a bit astringent and puckering, but smooth. Very unique and wine-like. Drinkable with a disclaimer.

A deep copper colored brew with amber tints. Massive nose filled wth hops and spices. There is a nice bitterness as well as added spice from coriander. Sweet aromas hit the nose as well with hints of fruits in the backround.
This brew is bold and complex with a big body and lots of flavor. It is initially very hoppy, and it then shows off some of its complexity with some spices. I was told a few different spices were used, but coriander was the spice of choice. It definitely added a nice bit of character to this one. The sweetness comes in a bit later with nice subtle fruit flavors. It is a very smooth brew with mild carbonation. This is a great beer. It has a pretty high abv, but it is extremely drinkable. I was told that it was pretty young, but that did not hurt it at all. A must have.
