On tap at the Boathouse in Conshohocken.
Pours a deep, dark brown color, nearly black with a thin ring of tan lace atop. Nose is mildly earthy with hints of charred embers and caramel malt. I figured since there was not a ton of complexity in the nose, this wouldn't have a lot of flavor. But this is Heavyweight folks, and Tom Baker makes an ordinary English session beer into something quite rich and flavorful. Begins on the sweet side with the dark malts flexing their muscles. Only the slightest hop bitterness is detectable, but it's enough to balance out the subtle black coffee notes and interesting smoky character found in the finish. Smooth, coating on the palate. The style is true "session", and the ABV probably is as well, but I found this to be somewhat filling. Nonetheless, a flavorful, easy drinker. Impressive.
