On Tap at Mahars, this beer, along with a few versions of Dark Mild were made for select accounts. Mahars put a challenge to Mr Baker to make a flavorful tradional cask conditioned British style Mild ale. Up to the challenge, HW produced some amazing brews, all under 4% alc/ vol., yet still remarkably full of flavor and character.
The bitter is 3.6% I believe and was pulled producing a full inch of creamy head with thick, chunky lacing over a pale amber beer.
Aroma was earthy hop and soft caramel malt, very clean and inviting.
Flavors were subtle and complex - toffee and herbal hop blended and balanced to perfection. Served at 55 deg F , the smooth malt coated the tongue while grassy/ woody hop bitterness danced in the back of the throat. The body is light but feels and tastes like more - and more and more! Incredibly drinkable and so so fresh - this is truely what beer should be.
An exceptional example of a traditional Bitter. I hope it doesnt stay a one -off beer as this, and the Dark Mild are beers I think people just dont know they like yet.
Heres hoping Heavyweight keeps brewing these Bantam weight beers. Cheers Tom!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
