Moffat 120/- from Medusa Brewing. Received on 9/4/21 from @Rub_This_BBQ in NBW BIF #13. 16 oz can stored at home at 42 degrees. Reviewed 23/4/21. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottom of can stamped but illegible. Served at 53.4 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 58.1 degrees.
Appearance – 3.
First pour – Deep Amber (SRM 15), clear.
Body – Amber Brown (SRM 18), opaque. When rear-lite, ruby brown and translucent.
Head – Average (Maximum 3.5 cm, aggressive center pour), buff, high density, average retention, diminishing to a three to four mm crown and a thin complete cap, fed by effervescence. Second pour produces a high density 0.8 cm head and adds a cloudiness to the body.
Lacing – Poor. A thin partial ring of tiny bubbles remains.
Aroma – 4.5 – Malty and sweet. No hops, no yeast.
Flavor – 4.25 – Begins slightly sweet and quickly becomes slightly bitter with roasted malt. Some light fruity esters appear as does a touch of sourness. No hops, no yeast. No alcohol (8% ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. Slight gastric warming quickly occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 4 – Full, creamy, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation 4 Overall, a smooth wee heavy, slightly skewed by a bit of sourness. The level of bitterness is acceptable as are the low levels of esters and sourness. The malt dominates as it should. The sediment in the second pour and the pathetic lacing pull down the appearance and the final score.

Alewife and I swung by Medusa today for some libations. She had this while I had Ransom Note at the brewpub. We opted to get a growler of Moffat to go, which we are enjoying presently out in The 'Zebo...
Poured into a nonic, it is a lovely, deep amber color. It is clear but dense, with a creamy tan head, which is thin but lasting. Also has good lacing on the glass. Nose has some caramel and brown sugar, being semisweet. It is a medium bodied brew, with a smooth feel.
Taste has more caramel and light sweetness, with notes of brown sugar and brown bread. The sweetness level is just right... A very nice brew. Cheers!

From the brewery website: The big brother to our popular Scottish-style ale Moffat 80/- has arrived! This one's no session beer: all of the ingredients have been scaled up to deliver a malt-bomb with some serious legs.
