Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown color with a two-finger head of light brown colored foam. The head has a good level of retention, fading to leave some light lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strong of a coffee and crème smell mixed with some aromas of roasted and toasted brown bread and a good showing of brown sugar and caramel. Along with these aromas comes notes of cocoa and some nut, as well as a hint of toffee.
Taste – The taste is strongest of a coffee and roasted and toasted malt flavor paired with a bit of crème and cocoa. At the same time there is a light sweetness of a caramel and vanilla, both of which remain light throughout the taste. As the taste advances on the tongue, the coffee gets stronger, brining with it a bit of bitterness. At the same time some light nut flavors of walnuts and almonds comes on toward with end, and with a bit of wood, one is left with a slightly bitter, but balanced coffee taste on the palate.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is moderate to thicker in body with a carbonation level that is on the more average and middle of the row. For the flavors and the style, the feel is good and makes for an easy sipper.
Overall – A more coffee forward and not too sweet porter. Rather pleasant overall.
