WEATHER THE STORM in this delightfully soft bear-skin blanket of an oatmeal stout. Brewed with copious amounts of malted and flaked oats to promote a decidedly smooth mouthfeel that's well-balanced with all those dark, toasty, biscuity malts. Fermented with a classic English yeast strain and gently hopped with UK First Gold. This beer was inspired by the hilarious artwork of webcomic titan Matthew Inman (theoatmeal.com), who graciously allowed us to feature it on the label.

A- Black in the center, deep mahogany at the edges brew pours from the 16oz can into a tulip glass. The head forms to a finger high with fair retention and a frothy, slightly creamy consistency. Lacing is rare and spotty.
S- Chocolate and roast malts are the main theme for the aroma with some toasty and fruity hints there as well. High quality dark chocolate comes to mind with cocoa and berry hints joined by toasted nuts, oatmeal, milk chocolate, roastiness and light caramel.
T- Again the malts and the beer overall has a lot reminiscent of chocolate from dark cocoa powder to some milk chocolate as well. Dried dark fruits, oatmeal, toasted nuts, caramel, raisins, oatmeal dark chocolate bars and roast barley notes. A subtle hint of earthy hops.
MF- Light-medium bodied with some of that signature oat silkiness and a texture overall that is foamy and frothy, not necessarily creamy and reminiscent of English stouts IMO. Carbonation is at a medium-low level and it ends with a clean roasty/hop bitterness.
In the end I find a nice balance between the cocoa nib aspect of the beer which brings nice fruity and chocolate notes that work well with the oatmeal present. Malty and slightly leaning toward the roast side of the toast to roast spectrum you often find in Browns and Stouts.

Rich coffee brown color with a 2F head in a Stone Imperial pint glass.
Aroma: oatmeal, coffee, and chocolate.
The body is a bit thin, I would have preferred heavier, malty body.
The chocolate, coffee, and oatmeal transition well to the taste.
Excellent oatmeal stout. Possibly a recipe tweak for a richer MF.

Love the artwork, great comic, canned 2/28/19.
Pours a large tan fluffy semi dense head with good retention and nice lacing, very dark mahogany brown almost black color
Nose lots of chocolate and oats, creamy milk chocolate with a little coffee roast, little toasty biscuity, touch of caramel
Taste rich creamy oatmeal stout, tons of oats again, velvety creamy, tons of chocolate again as well, milk chocolate, lush chocolate ganache, some roasty malts with a little coffee, light biscuity toasted grainy malt with a little caramel, medium-light bitterness with little herbal hop and some roasted malt bitterness, drier finish, more oats and chocolate lingering with a bit more roast and coffee too
Mouth is med bod but very creamy velvety oatmeal like, medium carb
Overall a solid oatmeal stout, malts are all in the right places, tons of chocolate maybe a bit much for me, but still nicely done. I'll def have to get more of this next winter.
