Poured from a can dated 08/25/25 (51 days old) into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours a lightly hazed deep golden orange color with a small head of orange tinted white foam. The head has a decent level of retention, fading over time and leaving a moderate level of streaky lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is big of tropical fruits and citrus with a strong showing of papaya and mango mixed with notes of pineapple and a big showing of tangerine. Along with these smells comes a decent showing of lychee and some strawberries, along with notes of biscuit. Some lighter hoppy notes of grapefruit and herb, and a touch of vegetal are there as well, making a rather nice and inviting, sweet, but balanced aroma.
Taste – The taste begins with a nice hit of bready malt mixed with notes of grain and a whole lot of the fruit flavors that were in the nose. The fruit flavors are heaviest of a papaya and tangerine, but are accompanied by some mango, melon, lychee, and strawberry. The hop is lighter upfront, being mostly of a herbal and earthy nature, but as the taste advances more flavors of hop, being a blend of herbal, earthy, grapefruit and vegetal hop join in. The maltiness fades a bit toward the end, and with a touch of hay and pepper, one is left with a rather big, but very approachable taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is medium to slightly more thick and viscous, with a slightly lower and more subdued carbonation level.
Overall – A very nice double. Lots of big complex flavors, but done in a way that they all meld quite well. Well worth a try if you have a chance.
