Uncle Neville the Devil has a medium, ivory head, a semi-clear, red-brown, bubbly appearance, and some glass lacing. Aroma is of sweet, syrupy, crusty bread crust, and lots of fruit. Taste is of robust, brown bread crust, syrup, strong hop bitterness, a bit of roast, and brown bread. Mouthfeel is low medium, and Uncle Neville the Devil finishes medium dry. A great hoppy red ale!

Attractive golden brown color with tannish cap and lacing.
Heady yeasty bouquet backed by resin and floral hops.
Taste brings forth a rich roasted maltiness and the hops show some grapefruit character. Hops are showcased, it is after all 62 IBU, but they present a smooth, rounded character rather than a sharp bitterness. Brewer doesn't say on their website but they do use dry hopping on some other labels so that might be at play here. Finish is clean with just the slightest touch of floral hop bitterness in the aftertaste.
Texture is medium full with balancing carbonation.
Ranks up there with the better red ales I've come across. Unfortunately it's seasonal but should it prove popular perhaps we'll see it on the shelves more often.

Uncle Neville, originally planned as an Imperial Red IPA, is now billed as a Red IPA, and at 62 IBUs certainly would qualify, but this beer is primarily about the malt.
