triple aged in pinot noir barrels with cherries and honey indeed. really nice magenta color. honey and cherry come through in a big way on the nose and the taste is like a cherry candy. duper festive. soft wine wine notes are present but it all blends very well. I quite like this. very unique AND very very tasty.

From a growler, pours purple/reddish color with bubbles racing up the brew to a 1 finger off white colored head that faded on the faster side and left good spotty lacing.

Smells of caramel, dark fruit, honey, sweet malt, Belgian and/or candied sugars, peppery spices, yeast, fruits, light booze and a grainy finish. Almost mead-like in it's sweetness, the malts make it seem bready and similar to French toast.

Tastes very malty and like rum soaked bread dough, with a lot of booze and malty sweetness starting this off before the cherries, honey, Belgian/candied sugars, peppery spices, yeast, fruits and light booze kick in. Very similar to Troegs Mad Elf, but this comes off more boozy, has a sharp bitterness and more spices with coriander and white pepper. Really tasty, getting more fruity and complex as it warms up with the pinot noir showing up late and trailing off with some of the fruity bitter aspects that left a semi-dry finish. The overall sweetness is nice and not cloying.

Listed as a "tripel fermented in pinot noir barrels with cherries and honey", I got the cherries and honey throughout, but there was very little barrel influence and only some flavors of pinot noir and not as much as I'd hoped for. The booze is on the hot side but works well with the heavy malt presence and makes for an interesting tripel.
