Traded for this a while ago while in line at Other Half, but I'm not sure when as there wasn't anything written on the bottom of the can. Yeah, this was probably old but for some reason, this didn't get me going as much as their other beers have. This was smooth and easy to drink but aside from being a single-hop beer, the flavors and mouthfeel present were nothing out of the ordinary.
Not a bad pour to this as the muted goldenrod hue was topped off by the lively and thick head that took it's time to settle. Only scattered sections of lacing remained behind, which was a bit of a surprise to me. Earthy, dank, a bit metallic, and having a bit of lemon zest, the muted nose was quite outdoorsy and balanced by the fuller body of the taste. Bread, citrus tang, elderflower, and grapefruit came in and gave this all the flavors that it needed even though none of them stood out among the others.
Not a lot of booze in this one as this was dangerously smooth in the alcohol department. Easy to quaff, low in carbonation, and subtly complex for a beer featuring one hop, this was serviceable but just a bit below what I was accustomed to from Sand City. I just wish they'd date all of their cans!

Translucent medium-gold brew with a fat white head... Canned 9/11/18, and showcasing the Amarillo hop, this beer has a flowery and citrusy character, with bright aromas hinting at sweet grapefruit and orange, and a smooth, mild flavor that has notes of tangerine and a hint of stone fruit... The body is soft and fluffy, amply carbonated... Mildly sweet, mildly bitter, very drinkable... A solid beer...

Pours bright yellow but very hazy. One finger white head. Aroma of pineapple, orange peels and a lemon zest. Taste follows the nose with clementine and a grapefruit juice finish. Nice addition to the family. Big fan of sand city.

super mellow release this morning...in my opinion the 3 tastiest cans released to date. sand city just keeps getting better and better. really hard to pick a favorite between this, the citra, and the galaxy as they are all so well executed. this might be the best Amarillo beer though. too easy drinking. might like this one even more than the citra.

Had on tap at the brewery and it was hazy bright yellow gold color with a solid 1+ finger thick creamy white head that was full of tiny bubbles, dissipating very slowly and leaving excellent thick foamy lacing coating the sides and rings as it went down. Another great looking beer from Sand City with NE style IPA attractiveness.
The aroma gives off strong grapefruit and had lemon zest, clementine, orange peel, passion fruit and a lot of fresh citrus hops. Mild toasted grains and biscuit gave it a malt backbone but could not balance it out as the hops were very juicy and dominating.
Taste was grapefruit dominant as well, with fresh pungent citrus, lemon and red grapefruit leading the way. There was some orange peel, clementine, sour orange juice, coriander, and a sweetness mixed with a little biscuit and toasted grains. The bitterness level here was like straight up grapefruit juice, and it didn't let up and in some sips even overpowered the sweet fruity aspects. It hides the 7% ABV well, but that might be masked more by the bitterness than the citrus flavor.
Soup Du Jour - Citra was dangerously easy to drink, while this brew had a lot more bitterness to it. This had the same level of carbonation (which was mellow), some texture, an average body and a smooth mouthfeel, but the high bitterness at this stage in the brew's life in my view puts the Amarillo version below the Citra version. Overall still a damn fine beer, but I'm giving my opinion based on comparison.
