Tall can, I could not find any dating info....

Nice looking fully hazed NEIPA kinda pour, leaves some fields of fine lacing.

Ripe melon and pineapple on the nose.

Rich and flavorful brew, loaded with more pineapple and again melon notes....juicy/fruity/fresh/smooth and super tasty...great stuff form SCBC

-cloudy, bright orange tap pour with a 1.5 cm foam cap. Aroma is orange-pineapple and flavor is tropical fruit, including mango with moderate hop bitterness. The finish is not dry. This is is a full-flavored DIPA with no alcohol heat.

L - powers, roots, and radicals, you say? Now that's my kind of beer. I may be a bit biased because of the green can art, but it has a slightly greenish hue to it. Milky haze and slight murk. Minimal head a la Trillium or (gasp) Pioneer/CVB.

S - mature melon and some grapefruit zest. That doesn't last long as a beautiful mixture of pineapple and grape comes rushing in. Subdued mango and juicy peach. The Nelson keeps everything mellow and ripe-nosing.

T - this is my first Sand City and I was worried when I initially poured and smelled it. This is a Trillium clone, which isn't a bad thing, but is loaded with acidity and packed with bitterness. The nose is so goddamn good that I can't help but feel a bit let down by the rest. Light butter and sweet chardonnay grapes. There's a pineapple wheatiness that smooths everything out. Gets better as it warms and your palate adapts to the initial acid shock. Grape candy smoothie and overall very chill and balanced. This is a good hop combination that is very pleasing to the palate. Finish is a touch dry and grassy with lingering bitterness. Going to guess there are more than a couple IBUs in this one.

F - sigh... it's Trillium alright. The liquid enters with a vague prickle and then it feels as if it's boiling out all the moisture without any heat. Bubbles kind of separate from the liquid making it very easy to swallow air. Feels a bit detached from the rest of the beer. It's in no way bad, but not my favorite NEIPA mouthfeel. I like more cream and less "flat" soda-like fizz.

O - as I said before, this is my first proper intro to Sand City (aside from Tap NY) and I am impressed! The aroma is fantastic and the hop blend is masterful. Hate to keep comparing to Trillium, but it's not a bad thing I suppose. Juicy and bitter, zesty!

A week out. Boy is she’s ready. Was green at release. She’s really starting to open up. Great collaboration. It gets better as it warms. I really enjoyed this.

Yikes, first review....so much hinges on these words. Trade ratios will likely be set, tickers will decide do I hunt it or do I skip it...keyboard warriors will determine the precise number of minutes that should be waited to crack thier first can for optimal flavor experience and ciceralones will all spout taglines from this review with conviction in thier voices as they debate which is better between this and another beer they've consumed less than an oz of years ago. All that plus this is a collab w newcomers (well sort of new) root and branch. Thier careers literally hang on the verdict of my palate and who the heck am I? Just some loudmouth LI beer drinking douchebag, so do you really even care what my homer ass thinks? Whew...that felt good...feels like *some* of the pressure is lifted, but I digress...massively.

This is the point of the review that I typically just say the beer is good and just end it. But not this time. This beer doesn't deserve just a comedy tagline...cause, its pretty rock n roll in a glass. I am admittedly NOT a big fan of heavy handed galaxy hops and galaxy makes itself known in this one. The Nelson and mouteka balance it out and I'm a fan...a big fan. The galaxy freaks are gonna go nuts for this one. This is definitely along the same quality lines of what we've been seeing from sand city lately. Finish has a nice quick bitter bite and the abv is better masked than many of the other recent 8.5ers I've had. Excellent. Really looking forward to more from root and branch and sand city just needs to reopen their taproom walking distance to my home and the world will be whole again. Worthy beverage.
