Pours pitch black color with a 3 finger thick foamy brown colored head that was packed with bubbles of all sizes, dissipating very slowly and leaving good spotty lacing.
Smells of vanilla, bourbon, peat moss, burnt coffee grinds, molasses, nutty notes, piney hops, maple syrup, roasted grains, light soy sauce and dark chocolate/cocoa nibs. It’s a rich smelling stout that has a little spice that mixes well with the nutty and roasty aspects.
Tastes of maple syrup, bourbon, nutty notes, brown sugar, booze like dark rum, vanilla, dark chocolate, molasses, cocoa powder, smoked malts, burnt coffee grinds, peat moss, chocolate malts, butterscotch and more chocolate flavors. It’s very complex with a lot of different components that work well together.
This had a thick body but went down easy considering the high ABV. Nice level of bitterness and char that balanced the chocolatey sweetness. Another great collaboration from SC and ET, this brew was tasty fresh and even better with aging.
