Pours pitch black color with a massive 3 finger thick foamy tan colored head that was full of bubbles of all sizes, popping then causing craters as it receded and left very nice foamy lacing. Smells of minerals, sheet metal, dark chocolate, milk chocolate and cocoa powder. It’s interesting how a malty imperial stout with brownies, chocolate and caramel basically has a nose that’s mostly metallic smelling.
Tastes of dark chocolate, metallic notes, cocoa powder, uncooked brownie batter, pine cone, milk chocolate, caramel and molasses. Like the aroma it had just as many metallic and mineral aspects as it did the chocolate and caramel components, which was a let down as most SC stouts are really tasty and let the malts be the star of the show. It was thin and smooth, hiding the alcohol well, but it seems like it would have had better flavor if I drank this can when it was fresh.
