Pours opaque orange color with a 1-2 finger thick eggshell colored head that was full of bubbles of all sizes, dissipating slowly and leaving good spotty lacing. The nose is like pineapple, fresh squeezed orange juice, apricot, grapefruit, tangerine, tropical fruit, wet citrus hops, honeydew melon, biscuit or a syrupy pancake, musty white grapes, light peppery spices and coriander. I've drank a lot of IPA's from both of these breweries and this collaboration has a unique smell to it, which is really nice.

Tastes quite dank and full of citrus hoppy flavors including fresh squeezed orange juice, apricot, grapefruit, tangerine, lime, pineapple, lemon zest, tropical fruit, melon, dry hops and/or tea leaf, biscuit, chalky yeast, musty white grapes that are starting to sour, orange peel, light peppery spices and coriander. The aroma seemed wet hopped but the flavor seem dry hopped. Either way it's a well balanced DIPA that hides the 9% ABV and is very complicated to inhale, changing with each sip. A really tasty and enjoyable brew.

My buddy Fred brought a four pack of tall boys of this over to my parents place when I visited them up on the island last weekend. Beautiful with a great head and terrific, tight tropical nose. A big blast of hop flavor almost overwhelms at first before the smaller flavors become visible. Tropical, melon and citrus notes all smothered in lupulin dust. Tight texture and bitter aftertaste and a very smooth finish.

 

 

 

 

Served in a Sand City snifter glass from the can.

Appearance: Darker hazy gold colored body with an off-white head rising maybe half a fingers length off the body.

Smell: Hoppy pineapple skin like aroma which dissipates quickly from the nose.

Taste: Smooth tropical citrus, consisting of cantaloupe, pink grapefruit, pineapple juice.

Mouth: Soft soft carbonation with a sticky body. Juicy finish with a semisweet after that just lingers.

Overall: I am very happy that I bought two four packs of this, I'm going to buy at least three more it is definitely one of the most juiciest IPAs I have had from Sand City and Troegs. Summer done right, Salud!
