Since the cold weather made a brief return, and we're off for Memorial Day tomorrow, I felt it was a good time to try something strong. At 12% ABV, Sand City's Midnight Rendezvous fits that description. It's an imperial (russian?)stout that pours a dark brown with a slightly lighter head. The nose smells of roast coffee beans, conveying the bitter taste on smell alone. The taste is not dissimilar to the nose, but thankfully has more sweetness. This is not a sweetened coffee beer, but a heavy bodied deep coffee beer. I could see drinking this on a cold and wet day, just taking the time to enjoy it.
