1L howler from Wine & Beyond Southgate in Edmonton. They said there wouldn't be cans of this available - they lied, or were misinformed, of course. As for the brew - I have no idea what the heck the name means.
This beer pours a clear, bright medium golden yellow colour, with a teeming tower of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly bone-white head, which leaves some complex cobweb lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.
It smells of bready and crackery pale malt, a further cereal graininess, some red apple and pear fruity notes, a bit of free-range toastiness, and some earthy, leafy, and floral noble hop bitters. The taste is grainy and bready pale malt, wet breakfast cereal, a muddled light fruitiness, and more edgy leafy, weedy, and sauced-up floral verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is quite active in its frolicking frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and sort of smooth, but for a rising tide of alcohol heat. It finishes off-dry, the robust malt sweetness and booze making for a lingering one-two sugary punch to the palate.
Overall, this is a fairly well-rendered version of the base style, amped up to near Imperial levels in terms of the ABV. Very warming on an October day when summer seems to have had a mind to return, if only for a few days. At any rate, this is good stuff.
