16oz glass at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square. Great name here, apropos of nothing. What would happen if this one ran into Ribstone's Prairie Pirate?

This beer appears a clear, medium golden amber colour, with one finger of puffy, loosely foamy, and yet somewhat creamy off-white head, which leaves some pockmarked concrete wall lace around the glass as things slowly sink away.

It smells of big grapefruit, orange, and tangerine citrus oils, bready and doughy caramel malt, some wet stoniness, and more heady leafy, weedy, and piney green hop bitters. The taste is semi-sweet, grainy and bready caramel malt, a lesser biscuity toffee sweetness, further flinty essences, and more edgy leafy, piney, and gently perfumed floral verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly active in its frolicking and frantic frothiness, the body a solid medium-heavy weight, and mostly smooth, but for a zingy hoppy intransigence - all is forgiven, in this particular case. It finishes trending dry, as the lingering hops zero in for the kill.

Overall - this is a rather agreeable and mouth-bashing version of the style, no quarter ceded, no way, no how. Full-flavoured, and yeah, it is indeed a simple joy to finally see my favourite kind of beer being made by more and more Alberta craft breweries.
