Served from a growler purchased about 20 minutes ago. Poured a lighter color than most stout, still black-looking, but has a more translucent quality. Smell is of roasted malts, coffee, and something I can only identify as pretzel dough. This must be where the rye comes in. Taste is sweet and malty, many bread like qualities. Thinner than most stouts, but I am still glad to see that Bandana is trying new things. From a Dark Ale, to a Scotch Ale, to a Rye Stout. Pretty off the wall for Mankato.
